Ateneo de Manila Junior High School student David Datuin (7-Alfonso) made a mark in the country’s karting scene after bagging back-to-back podium finishes at the Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) 2025, held on August 16–17 at Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.

Competing in the Junior Blaze category for 12–14 years old, Datuin secured second runner-up honors in both Round 5 and Round 6 of the national series. The consistent results earned him recognition as one of the emerging drivers to watch in Philippine motorsports.

The Rotax Max Challenge is a globally recognized karting program, staged in more than 60 countries and culminating in the annual RMC Grand Finals. In the Philippines, the series has become a premier training ground for young racers, offering them equal opportunities to prove their skills through standardized Rotax 125cc engines that highlight driver ability, racecraft, and strategy.

Clark International Speedway, the venue of the weekend races, is regarded as one of the country’s top motorsport facilities. Situated in the Clark Freeport Zone, the circuit features a mix of fast straights and technical corners, testing both precision and endurance. It regularly hosts national events as well as international racing competitions.

With his recent podium finishes, Datuin has joined the ranks of promising Filipino karters expected to raise the country’s profile in international motorsports.
